WELCOME MESSAGE FROM HOD

Welcome to the Visual Arts Department! We are delighted to have you here. On behalf of all the staff and students of the Visual Arts Department, we would like to extend our warmest welcome and good wishes.

The Visual Arts Department is a vibrant and integral part of Osei Tutu Senior High School. Our mission is to provide students with a holistic education through artistic activities that nurture creativity, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, effective communication, and collaboration. We aim to develop students not only as artists but also as responsible and productive members of their communities and the nation at large.

Our department is staffed by experienced and highly skilled educators, each specializing in different areas of the visual arts. Their expertise and dedication have contributed to the success of our students, many of whom have gone on to excel in various art-related professions and are now contributing meaningfully to society.

ABOUT THE VISUAL ARTS DEPARTMENT

The department offers a wide range of courses, including Picture Making, Graphic Design, Textiles, Sculpture, Leatherwork, and General Knowledge in Art for students in Forms 2 and 3. With the introduction of the Standards-Based Curriculum, Form 1 students ar e introduced to Art and Design Foundation and Art and Design Studio. These foundational courses combine all eight disciplines within the visual arts, making the program more inclusive and accessible especially for students from other departments who have a passion for art and wish to pursue it as a secondary area of study. We believe that visual arts education plays a crucial role in nation-building by engaging the hands, heart, and head developing students in a complete and balanced way. At Osei Tutu SHS, we see art not just as a subject, but as a way of life. Our Motto: Art is Life.
